We created a "File to Tape" job and selected various folders from the d$ root directory. Our backup job ran without error.
For test purposes, we used the "Restore File from Tape" option to select various files to restore from directories we backed up. We were very surprised to see that from the 7 directories we selected from d$, we were unable to open up 2 of the directories - the dropdown did not appear. We checked out the original backup job - and confirmed that we have full rights and were able to drill down into these directories. We checked out the NTFS permissions of all directories - the only difference between these 2 directories (which did not get backed up) and the other 5 is that the "system" account does not appear. Could this be our problem?
Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Windows "System" account required for backup?
Are you positive files in those directories were backed up successfully? (you can check it in the job session statistics; N files backed up successfully). Thanks.

Re: Windows "System" account required for backup?
Not sure what you mean. I am unable to 'see' any files or sub-dirs for the 2 dirs in question. For the other dirs I can drill down into their sub-dirs and select files/dirs to restore. There are 100s of 1000s of files & dirs which are being backed up in this job. The job stats says successful and "473509 of 473509 files" processed.
