Gradual backup of large directory

Post by klp32 »

Hello,

First, sorry if this question has already been asked, I've searched but I found nothing.

We have a large /home directory that I want to backup with Veeam Agent for Linux on a remote NFS share.
Our uplink bandwidth does not allow us to backup the complete /home directory in one time.

So I wonder, is that possible to backup the /home directory by gradually adding its subdirectories to the backup job, and then backup the entire directory ?

To be clear, let's say we have the /home directory like this :
/home/user1
/home/user2
/home/user3

We run the job with just /home/user1 and /home/user2 to be backuped.
Then, we add /home/user3 and rerun the job.
Then, we remove the three above directory from backup job, and add only the /home directory.
Will Veeam Agent understand that the data are the same, or will it try to backup again all the /home directory ?

Let me know if you need more informations.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it will start incremental backup.

Thanks
