mount veeam recover iso media in aws?

Veeam Logoby dkomander » Mon Aug 15, 2016 12:55 pm

Hi Support,

i am aware that this question rather belongs to the aws forums but i could not find any information and hope to find an answer here.

We have successfully installed veeam backup agent for linux on a centos 7 vm deployed in aws (amazon ec2) and want to test a full system recovery. For this, we need the veeam recovery media, that must be configured as a boot device in the vm.

However, we have no such means in the aws to boot from a custom iso. How can we do this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

That will be resolved in a future release. In Beta you can use export CLI function to get virtual disks in a .vhd fromat from the backup and import the disks to the cloud.

To export all disks from a restore point use the following command:
Code: Select all
veeamconfig point export --id {point id here} --outdir /target/directory

To get an id of the required point use:
Code: Select all
veeamconfig point list --backupid {backup id here}

Backup id can be obtained via:
Code: Select all
veeamconfig backup list

or, if you have bash completion configured, use TAB.

Thanks

Wow this was one of my biggest doubts, I was even thinking about looking for some cloud provider that used OpenStack or CloudStack just to have the option to use ISO to recover the system in case of disasters.

PTide again thank you for sharing one more option, I hope that in the final version a full documentation of these options will be available because it is so interesting option that many times we let pass some, this I did not know. =)
