Oracle Linux 6.9 and Veeam Linux Agent 2

Post by ificons »

I've an Oracle Linux 6.9 with the latest updates installed.
I'm unable to have agent working correctly.
I can't install veeamsnap correctly because i can't find the corresponding kernel-devel (4.1.12-61.1.28.el6uek.x86_64).

Hi,
thanks for your replies,
but no kernel-uek-devel-4.1.12-61.1.28.el6uek.x86_64.rpm was already installed.

Veeam agent looking for something like kernel-devel-4.1.12-61.1.28.el6uek.x86_64, that i don't find

That dependency belongs to dkms package, which, in turn, is dependency for veeamsnap. Please install kernel-uek-devel manually and then try to run installation again, dkms installation should work.

Thank you

You should either install kernel-devel as it requests, or just ignore kernel-devel dependency. Would you also provide the exact error message that you see please?

Hi, what dkms version did you install? I'm trying to install dkms.noarch 2.4.0-1 without luck
I'm running OL 6.9 too with UEK kernel R4(4.1.12-124.16.4.el6uek.x86_64).

Thanks

Hi were you able to get the agent working? We tried quite a few of things but still no luck.

Hi

Would appreciate someone here who can shade some lights on this. We are trying to make Veeam agent to work on our Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) running OL 6.9 and UEK kernel(4.1.12-124.16.4.el6uek.x86_64). We installed kernel-uek-devel.x86_64 (from Oracle)

Code: Select all

[root@ahqoda1rt0 tmp]# yum list installed|grep kernel-uek-devel.x86_64
kernel-uek-devel.x86_64 4.1.12-124.16.4.el6uek @/kernel-uek-devel-4.1.12-124.16.4.el6uek.x86_64
But failed when installing Veeam agent dependency: dkms (dkms-2.4.0-1.20170926git959bd74.el6.noarch.rpm):

Code: Select all

[root@ahqoda1rt0 tmp]# yum install ./dkms-2.4.0-1.20170926git959bd74.el6.noarch.rpm
Loaded plugins: ulninfo, versionlock

Also tried dkms from EPEL repositories, got the same thing.

Hi @wangfh,

I am not sure what might be the reason for DKMS to require kernel-devel since you have already installed it. As this is ODA, I guess it's out of the question that you run exactly UEK and not RHCK?

Just to be sure, please provide outputs of uname -r and yum -v list | grep kernel.
Alos please check whether ol6_UEKR4 repo is enabled:

Code: Select all

yum repolist all | grep ol6_UEKR4
You can enable it using this command:

Code: Select all

sudo yum-config-manager --enable ol6_UEKR4
After that please try to reinstall kernel-uek-devel again and try installing dkms one more time.

Thanks!
