Request feature fuse sshfs for Recovery media

Post by renat.garaev »

Hello.

I would like to see an addition in recovery media linux: fuse sshfs.

Case: VPS with one hard disk (fixed size and new can't be added or replaced), and web panel with iso images.
I upload recovery media iso and start vm.

1) Configure ip network and start shell from Recovery Media
In this recovery image absend sshfs

was perfect:
start sshd from console and connect to this VM cloud from my computer (work or home, under NAT) with port:
change password root
#passwd
start sshd
#sshd

From my work or home computer connect to this vm:
$ssh root@ip_cloud -R localhost:2000:localhost:22

After then in cloud vm in shell, i will mount my home computer at folder /backup:
#mkdir /backup
#sshfs -p 2000 root@localhost:/backup /backup

and exit to Veeam and start restore from folder /backup - from my home/or work machine

Current situation need:
1. Shared directory
2. VBR server 9.5
3. Cloud Connect
4. Samba

For this solution: I need new VM with public IP, and start it this services and restore backup from this.

Hi,

Sounds like an interesting feature, indeed. Although I can't promise that the feature will appear in the next release, I appreciate the feedback you gave us.

Thank you

Hi,

We have a lot of other high-priority features pending for future releases, so it is hard to provide ETA. It is unlikely that the binary will be included sooner than by the end of 2018. For now there exists a workaround - if something is missing in recovery media, you can boot from a liveCD/usb distro of your choice and install all required software (including VAL) onto the liveCD and perform recovery from there.

Thanks
