99% memory usage on laptop while taking backup
I have installed Endpoint backup on many machines but one specifically is having an issue that is being reported. The schedule is set to backup at lunchtime (12:00p.m.) and backup to the repository server.
The backup will not start at 12 but instead 3:45.pm. and take up 99% of the memory usage on the laptop which is slowing the computer to a CRAWL and the user cannot successfully work. Has anyone experienced this?

Re: 99% memory usage on laptop while taking backup
Hello Eric,
Can you please clarify your hardware configuration? Also, I wonder, if the throttling was disabled in Control Panel > Settings. Thank you.

Sure.
Its a Dell Latitude E6410.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 560 @ 2.67GHz
Windows 7 32Bit
4 GB of Memory
6 GB page File (Virtual Mem)
I always check the throttle when workload is high due to my thoughts something like this would happen

The hardware looks good for me – far above the system requirements. Are you sure that the Veeam Endpoint process is overloading the resources? Could you share the screenshots of the windows resource manages / windows task manager > processes? Thanks.

Re: 99% memory usage on laptop while taking backup
Hi, it is old thread, but i have same issue with HP spectre pro 13g1 i7,8GB RAM,512SSD.
Endpoint Backup version is 1.5.0.306 and target is VBR on local network (over WLAN).
Every time i hit backup, the memory (non-paged pool) will rise to 4-5GB. Right after "Calculating digests" ends and copy process starts!
After backup process finishes, veeam does not release non-paged pool. Then i have to restart the laptop to start working normally.

Andri,
Please submit a support call (free) through the UI of VEB so we can investigate.
Please report the support case ID here and keep us informed on a hopefully easy solution;-)
Cheers
