Hello,
VAW 3.0.2 : when booting with the recovery media 3.0.2, a bare metal recovery of the system volumes does not preserves the "bitlocking" status
Steps (on a clean disk) :
- Installation of Windows 10 Professional V1803
- Installation of VAW V2.2
- Creation of a recovery media V2.2
- Bitlocking of the OS volume
- Full backup with V2.2
- Boot the recovery media V2.2 and recover the "system volumes only" : the bitlocking status of the SYSTEM partition is preserved, the SYSTEM partition is still encrypted after reboot
- Update of Windows 10 to V1903
- Full backup with V2.2
- Boot the recovery media V2.2 and recover the "system volumes only" : the bitlocking status of the SYSTEM partition is preserved, the SYSTEM partition is still encrypted after reboot
- Update to VAW 3.0.2
- Full backup with V3.0.2
- Boot the recovery media V2.2 and recover the "system volumes only" : the bitlocking status of the SYSTEM partition is preserved, the SYSTEM partition is still encrypted after reboot
- Creation of a recovery media V3.0.2
- Boot the recovery media V3.0.2 and recover the "system volumes only" : it asks for the bitlocker decryption key of the bitlocked OS volume (need to click to "Unlock" the SYSTEM partition when viewing the automatic mapping of disk), but the bitlocking status of the SYSTEM partition is NOT preserved because the SYSTEM partition is no more encrypted after reboot.
- Again, bitlocking of the OS volume
- Again, creation of a recovery media V3.0.2
- Again, full backup with V3.0.2
- Again, boot the recovery media V2.2 and recover the "system volumes only" : the bitlocking status of the SYSTEM partition is preserved, the SYSTEM partition is still encrypted after reboot

So, the problem seems to be related with the recovery media V3.0.2 (or V3.0.N, as I had the same problem with the first release of the V3), because the recovery media V2.2 works to restore V2.2 or V3.0.2 backups without loosing the bitlocking status...
Same behaviour on two different computers (Desktop DELL Optiplex 990, Notebook HP Elitebook 840)
Regards
Eric

Re: a bare metal restore with the recovery media 3.0.2 does not preserves the "bitlocking" status
Hi Cassette,
Thank you for reporting it.
We are aware of this issue and will address it in the next VAW versions (no ETA yet). As of now, please manually encrypt the drive after restore.
Thanks
