One of our daily agent backup jobs fails for stretches of days at a time with "Managed session has failed" messages.
I tried restarting the Veeam agent service (this is on Windows) and retrying the job, but was still getting the error.
After I rebooted the affected VM and retried the job, it completed successfully.
So perhaps an easy fix: if you can reboot the VM, try that.

Thanks for sharing your solution. I suggest you watch the backup jobs closely the next few days.
If it's happen again, we should escalate the case to the next tier.
For future reader, if a reboot doesn't solve an issue, please open a case with our customer support.
Such technical issues require troubleshooting with the debug log files and cannot be done over a forum post.
