Morning All
I would like to use the Veeam Agent, plus my daily backups to replace the 2 RAID1 O/S disks on a Dell 2016 server.
I am happy with the steps needed to physically replace the drives and re-create a new RAID1 config using the Dell iDRAC card.
I am looking for advice on the smoothest and most reliable way to perform this.
I know I need to run the Veeam create recover media wizard and backup to a USB drive.
Is it then best to change the drives, boot up from this media and then just point to the B&R Repository?
Any way to get the backup onto the USB stick as well? to speed recovery up?
This will definitely be a good test of the process, a learning experience before I actually needed to do it properly due to failed hardware!

Re: Advice on steps to use Agent and B&R to backup and resto
Hello Paul,
Should work. Make sure that recovery media was created under the same OS you are restoring. In case of dissimilar hardware uncheck to box to collect device drivers (otherwise they may interfere with actual hardware)Is it then best to change the drives, boot up from this media and then just point to the B&R Repository?
Also works.Any way to get the backup onto the USB stick as well? to speed recovery up?

Re: Advice on steps to use Agent and B&R to backup and resto
Just letting you know I did this today.
• Shut down the server,
• Swap the SSD drives
• Boot server
• Enter RAID controller setup
• Create new RAID1 array for the 2 new SSD’s and initialise it
• Copy the remover media file (ISO) from the backup server to my local PC
• In the Dell iDRAC console, mount the ISO as remote boot media for the server. No need to even put the ISO on a memory stick!
• In iDRAC, set next restart boot device to be the virtual DVD I mounted from my PC
• Follow the instructions on this link https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=21
• During this process, it asks you where you want to restore from, you can select the Veeam backup repository, enter login details and it displays a list of backups for you to pick from
• Simply select the one you want and let it do its thing:-
• Full physical server restore in < 30 mins
