Hi.
Consider the following requirement: Customer wants extra secure workstations to be backed to a VBR repo using encryption.
He does not want the encryption password to be defined/stored/known by the VBR server or its admins.
Unfortunately once you select a VBR repo as a destination, one could no longer specify encryption options on the client agent side.
Encryption options should be defined on the repo side - in contrast to the requirement.
Any recommendations/ideas here?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Backup encryption without key on VBR server
Hi.
Expose extra secure location on VBR server as SMB share and use it as Agent's job destination instead of VBR Repository type? Physically backups could be stored on the same disk where VBR Repository keeps other backups.
/Thanks!

Re: Backup encryption without key on VBR server
That's actually how we solve this currently. Problem is only that you don't have any further functionality like cloud backup for those agent->share backups.
So why not allow the workstation agent with GUI on the client to add an individual PW not known to the server?
Thanks,
Michael
