Backup is using wrong hostname in backup file
When this is working properly my backups are titled Backup Job %HOSTNAME%.vbm etc etc
I installed VEB then changed the hostname, and now it is generating files named Backup Job %OLD HOSTNAME%.vbm which is causing confusion.
I uninstalled VEB, MS SQL, deleted all the folders in appdata, program data, program files, and removed the Veeam registry keys and rebooted and reinstalled.
How can I make this application generate files with the correct hostname?
Thank you

Re: Backup is using wrong hostname in backup file
Hi Robert,
Usually starting a new backup chain should be enough to change the computer name reflected in the backup files, but let me double check it with our dev team.
P.S. can you trigger a re-create database via this solution > Veeam Endpoint Error?
Thanks!

Vitally,
Thank you for your quick response. The solution in the link you provided proved to be the correct answer.
Thank you again, and thanks to everyone at Veeam. Love the software.

For future reference: we will make the “cache” deletion possible during the product uninstallation procedure – that should give a hand to cases like yours. Cheers!

Re: Backup is using wrong hostname in backup file
This reminds me of something... When restoring a VM, there is an option to change the name (if the Original VM is still running etc...), the vm shows up in vsphere with the new name which is great, however the files (vmx, vmdk etc...) do not folow this naming and still use the name of the Original vm. Could this be changed in a future release?

Re: Backup is using wrong hostname in backup file
Do you refer to Veeam B&R files and restoring VMs or you're still on the original topic about backup files created by VEB?

Re: Backup is using wrong hostname in backup file
Hi Vitaly,
sorry for the confusion. No, not related with the original Topic.
What i meant: When restoring a vm from B&R Backup with a different Name the then created filenames (vmx, vmdk etc..) still carry the original vm's Name. (at least until the last time i tested a few months ago).
It would be nicer if the files carry the new name so one is able to identify the correct vm.
