backup of vhd disk using agent in windows server

I'm using community version of veeam with agent to backup data from windows server. There is one virtual disk in **.vhd file stored on drive C and encrypted with bitlocker. When it connected and unlocked - it available in the system as H drive. Veeam creating full copy of drive C (including .vhd file), but does not creating copy of drive H. Why?

Hi Vsevolod,

Microsoft VSS does not work with mounted VHD drives, thus disk becomes invisible for backup applications.

Here is the procedure:
1. Add iSCSI Target role to the server (Server Manager - Add Roles - File and Storage Services - iSCSI Target Server + iSCSI Target Storage Provider)
2. Detach VHD under Disk Management
3. Run Import iSCSI Virtual Disk under Server Manager - File and Storage Services - iSCSI - Tasks
4. Under Initiators tab, add server itself(so it will have access to that target)
5. Connect to itself using iSCSI Initiator Target: your_server_name
6. Bring disk online under Disk Management

After that you will have working iSCSI disk where VSS works by design and that can be backed up with Veeam Agent.
