Backup whole Agent System minus Big Data (VMs)

What if i run Agent on the Hyper-V Host and Hyper-V Backup in the same Host..
i need to select too many things by hand.

What i like is a full backup of my host excluding all the items the Hyper-V Backup already backupped.
means i want to exclude at least all VHDs, etc.

Please add this :I

Hey Poweruser,

I believe you can do this already? Where are the VHDs located? Simply select the C:\ volume and system state, + the other drives on the host minus the directory where the VMs are located.

Or is that not what you need?

i want simply select all the machine except hyper-v.
can i select all partitions etc and an exlcude for vhd etc directories?

Yes. That is also a possibility. All the exclusions are explained in our helpcenter documentation

hm i have to check this out again.
but i was sure if i select whole drive it will backup the vhd files too.
on these drives there are some files to backup and vhd files which should not be backuped, because they are already backupped.
i will check this out soon but i was pretty sure its not possible except selection all by hand..

That's correct.

When we do volume level, we can leverage VSS with certain exceptions (MSFT controls these). But not everything what you want. So if you want specific exclusions, then it becomes file level backup. But you can mix (so C: volume level and D: file level or similar)
