Backups suddenly very slow
The backup seems to be taking in excess of 24hrs, whereas previously it ran in under 12. Anyone know the cause and how to bring this down (and speed up)?
TIA
TIA

Re: Backups suddenly very slow
Hello Matt,
Check network connectivity in case of remote target. If you are using forever incremental backup mode you can start a new backup chain to eliminate possible backup file fragmentation (this could also be avoided with periodic compact functionality). Cheers!

This is an external hard drive connected locally to the server; it is configured to create a full backup daily as the drives are swapped out.

Might as well check session log for a slow run and a previous(fast one), see if Read Speeds you have there next to each protected disk changed dramatically?
/Thanks!

Read speeds seem erratic; was running at 40 mb/s when I checked initially but this has dropped to 14 mb/s.

Re: Backups suddenly very slow
Well, agent read speed is essentially how fast local service can read local disk data. Might be a sign of failing disk or some sort of a new read IO intervention, say a new antivirus software update maybe?

Re: Backups suddenly very slow
Do you suggest possibly a failing disk on the device being read, or the device used for backup?

Source device, one that we read data from.

Re: Backups suddenly very slow
It seems only slow when the server has been in use - weekends it runs fine (about 30 mb/s read on VMs) but in the week this slows to 11 mb/s.
The backups run in the evening so there won't be user activity on the server. A different disk is used each day and the result is the same.
