Bare metal recovery to larger drives?

Post by Dolphin »

Hi friends,
does Veeam Agent for Windows support restoring bare metal backup to larger-than-original hard drives?

Hello Dolphin,

Sure. You can customize volume allocation during bare metal recovery. Cheers!

That's awesome.

BTW just in case this doesn't work, you can always use Mini Tool Partition Wizard Free after restoring to extend the OS volume to consume the rest of the drive's unallocated space.

There might be issues only with shrink operations (due to the unmovable block sometimes being stored at your existing volume layout it might not be possible to shrink the volume to the desired size). Volume resize to a bigger size should work like a charm
