Bare Metal Recovery Windows 2019 Essentials boot fails

Post by fwe »

My Case-Nr.04243366:

We had a ransomware virus on a Windows Server 2019 Essential System (Production-System!)and we tried to restore the backup.
The system has two SSDs configured with raid 1.

When I restored the backup no error messages appeared. I didn't choose the "Inject these drivers into operating system..."-option, but the system still didn't boot.
It would be greatly appreciated, if someone could help me quickly, because it is an urgent issue. Thank You!

For the Backup I used the
Veeam Backup & Replication 10 Community Version

Was it a software raid or hardware one? I don't think it is a RAID\driver related issue, as volumes restored just fine. Looks like boot config didn't like the shift to a new disk layout. Can you please try rebooting with Veeam Recovery Media again and select Tools -> Startup Repair. See if it helps.
/Thanks!

It's a software raid.
I also tried "Startup Repair", but it didn't work.

Then a deeper boot troubleshooting will be required.
I would go with Microsoft Boot Problems article steps.
