I have been reading this article:

In the "Network storage" step, it says that you should choose "Shared folder".
I just wonder why you should not choose "Veeam backup repository"? Is that option not working in this context?

The "How-To appendices" are just examples showing how you can handle specific scenarios. The BMR appendix you’re referring to applies to a case where the backup target is a shared folder, or where backup files were manually moved from another repository to a shared folder.
Other restore options depend on the network storage type you select during recovery: Network storage
If you have backups on a Veeam backup repository, then you need to continue with the steps provided here.
