For us to use Veeam Endpoint as a Backup/Recovery Option for a dead system, we need the ability to use the Bare Metal recovery option. This didn't seem to work for us.
We:
- created the Recovery Media (.iso), then did an "Entire Computer" backup to a DataDomain file share.
- We then created a VMware VM and booted it with the .iso
- Then restored the system from the backup, and set the partition to active.
However, the VM would never boot on it's own. Just sits at a black screen.
Any issues with doing this type of restore to VMware, or am I just missing some steps?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: Bare Metal Restore
Hello Doug,
Users reported that this workaround (I call this solution a workaround because it was not designed for this purpose) works. You said you are backing up to DataDomain file share – is the duplication enabled for the said folder? Is it possible to run restore test from non-deduplication storage? Thank you.

Re: Bare Metal Restore
I will try that. i'm surprised that the deduplication should matter, as the DD should be serving out the equivalent of undedup'd data.
