Bare metal Restore to a USB drive

Post by TSteege »

Running into another issue here. We are storing our backups to an SMB share. No problem,

However, I am attempting to do a Bare metal Restore to a SSD Drive via a USB to SATA adapter. My Disk Manager sees the drive, can format it, etc. However when I try to use your Customize Disk Mapping, the drive is NOT there. We have tried on Win7 and Win8.

Any ideas if this will work?

Hi Tom,
SSD Drive via a USB to SATA adapter
Please, go to the Computer Management > Device Manager and check if the said drive is listed as Disk drive or as USB Mass Storage Adapter? Thanks

Under Disk Drives - I see Apricorn USB Device - apricorn is the name of the USB to SATA adapter.. The drive is a Samung PRO
However, the drive is showing up a s a USB Mass Storage. Is this why it doesn't show.

Tom,

I'm afraid it is. We can't do a BMR to a USB device
