Can agent co-exist with server that has backup proxy role?

We have a VM server as our main Veeam B&R server at one site and a physical 2019 server at another site that holds the main local repository.

Can I install the Agent for Windows on this proxy server to at least backup the system drive (not the storage drive)? I thought I read somewhere that the agent can't be installed with this role?

Maybe my post was confusing. The physical server at the one site has the Backup Proxy role installed and we use it's local storage for backups.

I was under the impression we can't install the Windows Agent on it because of the proxy role installed? Maybe we can?

Yes, that is possible - just don't use the main repository as target...
