Can I back up shared folders?

Post by danielmantova »

Scenario:
Backup server with veeam installed.
Host server with folder shared with virtual disks.
I want to configure veeam to back up the files that are shared.

Do you know if it's possible?

Hi Daniel,

To clarify, are you talking about Veeam Endpoint Backup Free or Veeam Backup and Replication? The files are stored on a local folder on a windows machine and this folder is shared between other computers, is that correct?

Hi, I'm talking about Veeam Endpoint Backup Free.
And the files are shared on another windows server.

If you are using SMB/CIFS shares these won't be backed up however you can install Endpoint on the other Windows server and back it up?

if i only have 1 veeam agent, can i backup any shared folder reside in any other server? or lets say i mapped the shared folder into server with veeam agent. does it works?

if i buy vbr, can it backup the shared folder? i can see it has File Copy features. but this file copy only copy original file itself right? with no veeam format file or compression?
