Cannot create snapshot
Hi forum,
I just installed VEB on a computer in order to backup the system volume and one of the "data" volumes.
Unfortunately, backup jobs fail due to the fact that a snapshot cannot be created.
I think the cause is a large disk (>100TB) connected to that computer.
I thought by not selecting it for backup, a snapshot for this volume is not neccesseary. However it seems that Veeam/Windows tries to create one.
Did I miss something? Does someone know a possibility how to really exclude something from snapshot processing?
Thanks

Re: Cannot create snapshot
Hello,
One of the possible reasons for this error message is lack of free space for VSS snapshot.
Please take a look at these links:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... S.10).aspx
http://www.veeam.com/kb1794
Let me know if that helps!

Timo,
In addition, please open a free support case via Control Panel > Support > Technical Support and post here the case ID?

Does the job fail immediately or it hangs for some time?I think the cause is a large disk (>100TB) connected to that computer.
You can go to file level backup mode, check the volume and uncheck some subfolders (or use include/exclude masks if needed)Did I miss something? Does someone know a possibility how to really exclude something from snapshot processing?

Re: Cannot create snapshot
Thank you all for your replies. They are much appreciated
@PTide: Yes, I can confirm that VSS is running.
@Vitaly: That was my first idea as well. However, enough space is available.
@Dima: Is there a possibility of opening a support case without internet connection of the Computer?
The job fails after processing the snapshot request for a minute. As soon as I set the 100TB disk to offline, snapshotting is no problem anymore.
Will file level backup also provide bare metal recovery?

Re: Cannot create snapshot
No, but you can open a support case from another computer and collect logs from the one experiencing the issue.timmi2704 wrote:Is there a possibility of opening a support case without internet connection of the Computer?
Yes, assuming you have selected all system partitions/volumes required for the restore.timmi2704 wrote:Will file level backup also provide bare metal recovery?
