Cannot even download installer.

I entered my email address, and expect the installer file to start downloading, but nothing happens. So I click on the link to download, and it simply spawns a duplicate of this same page.

Also, does this backup agent actually install a *database* on the Windows machine it gets put on??

I just tried the same process and downloads starts fine for me, so not sure what's wrong - you may want to try a different browser or a different computer.

Yes, the agent installs a small local SQL database to hold configuration and statistics in - not much difference from your browser, except the latter runs one in-process, otherwise the one your browser uses is just as powerful as the one we're using it is called SQLite.

Are you using any blockers like uBlock maybe? This might prevent the download from happening.

I did have uBlock enabled. However, shutting it off did not help. The results were the same.

Try to clear the browsing cache and re login to the Veeam web page. Another browser or anonymous mode should also help.

I have tried many times to download the Beta version without success. Is it so broke that it has been pulled back?

Download works fine. Kindly, try to clean your browsing history (cached files, cookies etc) and try again. Another browser or anonymous mode also might help.
