change the backup location if the subnet mask changed

Post by feres »

Hi togheter
I asked if there is a solution about if Veeam is able to change the backup location automatically when the subnet mask change.
So i make an example. Our company has more sites and all are site-to-site connected via VPN.
If now an employee come for a temporary time to a different location we have to change the settings manually that he has a backup.
Now for us would be a very good solution if the Veeam Agent recognize that the subnet-mask has changed and then the backup automatically changes the repository to the site he is at the moment.
I already opened a case but nevertheless I would like to share this with you.
Have somebody else this wish so he didn't have to change the repository all the time?

Hello feres.

If you are looking at Veeam Agent for Windows backing up to a local repository, then my answer is no. However, if you are using Veeam Cloud Connect repository VAW can leverage the Cloud Gateway technology to backup to the repository via any network even across WAN.
