Changed block tracking map was changed for volume

Post by BackupYourBackups »

Can someone explain to me what this means and why it's a warning?

Changed block tracking map was changed for volume \\?\Volume{f0010257-cfe1-11e3-830b-806e6f6e6963}: current map 27d49590-481f-11e9-b1b2-806e6f6e6963, previous map 0cae1713-4454-11e9-a8a1-806e6f6e6963
Changed block tracking map was changed for volume \\?\Volume{fb7544f0-50e5-47ba-92e7-fc4fa37b3719}: current map 27d49592-481f-11e9-b1b2-806e6f6e6963, previous map 0cae1715-4454-11e9-a8a1-806e6f6e6963

This happened after my server was hard rebooted. Should I be doing disk checks or something?

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

I just guess that you made a major Windows upgrade (e.g. to 1809) and the disk layout changed?

Best regards,
Hannes

Hi Dan,

Any chance the disk was removed from the server, attached to any other windows machine and then loaded back? Thanks!

[MERGED] Changed block tracking map was changed

Post by perjonsson1960 »

Folks,

On Friday I upgraded B&R to v11a. In all our physical machines the agent was upgraded, and our fileserver cluster had to be rebooted due to the agent installation. When the first incremental backup was run after that, I got this warning (or similar) about all the volumes in the fileserver cluster:

"Changed block tracking map was changed for volume \\?\Volume{28035f8b-3dfd-4e1e-bd27-bdc3fa14a8a3}: current map 12ac4030-38d0-11ec-8705-b8830370c111, previous map ca90f767-c5c0-11eb-86fd-b8830370c111"

Why is this happening? Is it due to the agent installation, new version of the CBT driver, or the reboot? Shouldn't the CBT map be unaffected by such things?

Hi PJ,

Moved your post to the existing thread to keep similar issues together.
Could you please clarify if you've opened a Support case to analyze this issue?

Thanks!

No, I have not. I thought that perhaps it is a known behaviour.

We've discussed internally that the severity of this message makes no sense (you cant really do anything about this warning), so the plan is to make it an info message in vNext. Thanks!

Okay. The problem is that the backup takes about six hours when it has to rebuild the CBT map, as opposed to about 30 minutes. But I can't do anything about that either. ;-)

Thanks!
