Let me ask for a clarification: the recovery disk is specific for a given PC/Server or can I use the recovery disk created on a given PC to recover a different one with similar or different HW?

Yes. It is possible. But you might need to add drivers during the recovery process which you can do in the tools section or when starting the BMR
