Hi, I'm new to Veeam and need some guidance.
I only have one Windows server 2016 and I just want to backup of some folders to the allways connected USB drive (just one).
I'm investigating the possibility of using a Veeam product, I will not use Windows backup for this job,
Could I install Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition and accomplish this or is some other veeam product better suited?
If Veeam Backup and Replication is the way to go and I install it on the server, what will be the next step after installation?
Thanks,
Tommy

Re: Community Edition for one physical server
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
Veeam Agent for Windows is the right product. https://www.veeam.com/windows-cloud-ser ... =downloads
Backup & Replication is for use cases where you back up virtual machines or multiple physical machines from a single point of management
Best regards,
Hannes

Hi,
So Veeam Agent is a standalone tool that can operate on it's own without connection to Backup & Replication?
Is there a free version of Veeam Agent for Windows?
Thanks,
Tommy

Yes, there's a free edition with slightly reduced functionality: https://www.veeam.com/virtual-machine-b ... -free.html
It says "virtual machine" but works absolutely fine with physical machines as well.

Hello,
yes and yes
With only one machine, the agent is the way to go. The full blown Backup & Replication on the same server backing up it's own is complex, error prone and waste of resources.
Best regards,
Hannes
