Configuration backup encryption key
I have a customer that has Veeam 12 that was setup by someone else and I do not have the Configuration Backup encryption key or password.
Can I create a new key and password and tell it to use the new one I just created?
The statement that I may not be able to recover backups in the screenshot scares me.
I am new to Veeam and appreciate any help.

Re: Configuration backup encryption key
Are you sure this password is only used for encrypting the configuration backup? Just asking as the key has 'backup copy' in its description and the customer is offloading backups via capacity tier.

Max means you should check if your regular backup jobs are possibly using the password you don't know, and change it there as well if so.

Re: Configuration backup encryption key
Anton is right. I just wanted to be sure that the customer wasn't encrypting any backups with the unknown password.
In the password manager, when you click on 'edit', you should get a prompt which tells you if and where the password is in use.
Does it only say 'Backup Configuration Job'?
And maybe you want to take a look at the following helpcenter articles about encryption:
