Post by andry79fi »

Hello
i've setting my Veeam Agent to Backup to a remote repository (Internet)
i always receive the error :

22/07/2019 17:56:54 :: Error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 192.168.0.70:2500

Why 192.168.0.70?
It need to be in VPN?
My remote repository is on internet....it can't reach direcly 192.168.0.70 Server.

Hello and welcome to the community forums Andrea,

Veeam Agent for Windows must have a direct access to the repository, so you cannot access the said server from the agent machine - it wont be possible to perform a backup. Cheers!

Hi-

Does this apply to a Cloud Connect server? We are trying to perform backup copies from our tenant B&R server via managed Agent Backups to our Cloud Connect tenant repository. We are getting a similar error where it can't connect to the LAN IP of the repository server.

Server: Agent backups managed via B&R
Tenant Repo: NAS
Backup Copy via B&R to Cloud Repository
Cloud Repository in NAT mode via 6180.
Single Service Provider Cloud Connect server running Wan Accelerator, Cloud Gateway, B&R
Cloud Repository on linux server share

Failed to connect to agent 'storagerepo', EP '192.168.0.1:2519' (System.Exception)
<32> Error at Veeam.Backup.AgentProvider.CSocketAgentService.Start(Boolean redirectOutput)
<32> Error at Veeam.Backup.AgentProvider.CClientAgentProtocol..ctor(CBaseAgentService svc, Boolean redirectOutput, Version version, IAgentProtocolLogger logger)
<32> Error No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it (System.Net.Sockets.SocketException)

Hello ktrang,

No, with the hand of Cloud Connect you can ship backup files to the remote repository via Internet.
Failed to connect to agent 'storagerepo', EP '192.168.0.1:2519' (System.Exception)
Is that IP address of your Cloud Gateway which can be accessed over internet from the agent machine? Thank you.

Hello Emerson,

Potentially you can look for a service provider with Cloud Connect repository as a service. Once you got access - you can set Veeam Agent for Windows to use Cloud Connect repository. Cheers!
