Error code: 23 Failed to read data from the file
Hi,
if i try to backup a volume or the entire computer, i get this error:
"Error: Datenfehler (CRC-Prüfung). Error code: 23 Failed to read data from the file [\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy21].
Failed to upload disk. Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Exception from server: Datenfehler (CRC-Prüfung).
Error code: 23 Failed to read data from the file [\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy21]. Unable to retrieve next block transmission command.
Number of already processed blocks: [11]. Failed to download disk."
The file level backup works fine ! CheckDisk is okay without errors.
The OS is Windows 7 Enterprise x64 latest patch installed. Veeam Endpoint Backup Version is 1.0.0.1921
Is this a known issue?
Regards

Hello Schmerbeck,
On which volume you received this error? For me it looks like bad sector issue, but since you said that check disk was performed, please, open a support case and post the case Id to this thread – we will check you logs. Thank you in advance.

To the OP, did you get this figured out? I just ran up against the same error and am curious what you came up with.

snadam,
You have to open a support case (Endpoint > Control Panel > Support > Tech Support) since this error may refer to the hard disk being corrupted.

Hello,
we have the same problem here one a customer notebook.
Checkdisk and vss writers are clean and stable.
Do you use any kind of disk encryption? We are using Sophos Safeguard.

Kn0rki,
Sophos Safeguard will probably be an issue. At this moment we support bitlocker only.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Error code: 23 Failed to read data from the file
no its not, actually the problem is there already was one backup on REPO1, then i switched to REPO2, and that happened !.
is there a way to delete it ? i removed it from veeam UAC, but still happens.

Do you want to delete an old backup from disk? Go to "Backups" tab, "Disk", right click on backup to be deleted, "Delete from Disk". Also don't forget to point your Job to a new repository. Also, what did you mean by "i removed it from veeam UAC" ?is there a way to delete it ? i removed it from veeam UAC, but still happens.
