Curious - what happened to versions 7-12? :)

Post by dreamteam »

Hi all!

I was running Veeam Agent for Windows v6.3.1.1074 and was prompted to download an update. And now we're on v13!

This must be continuous delivery on steroids, or what happened? :D

Thanks for an amazing free product!

Hi, since backup agents are components of VBR, their version numbers were aligned with the latter so it's easier for customers to determine the matching agent version for the given VBR version. This change is explained and documented in VBR V13 What's New. Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply. I had no knowledge of VBR at all, so this was news to me. Apple did something similar with iOS 18 -> 26... :)

I couldn't find any explanation of the sudden version number jump in the Veeam Agent for Windows documentation, either the "Current version" forum post for Veeam Agent for Windows, release notes or 500 page manual, so I'm grateful you told me. :D

Some new developments in Agent v13 that struck me, compared to previous v6:

New Windows pre-requisites:
-Microsoft ASP.NET Core 8.0.21 Shared Framework
-Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.21

New dependency that will also be installed:
- OpenSSL v3.0.0 FIPS (presumably for the web server features?)

Thanks for a great product! :D
