Hi,
i have without any issues running my 4.0.1.2169 Agent backup. I have changed anything on my setup or messed with the email settings.
I haven't received a success/fail mail for some days now even if the backup says mail sent successful.
Using the same settings (smtp, username, password) on other apps i have no issue. Nothing on spam/junk folder
No Egor, it says successfully sent email but those are gone too.
All these years as a recipient i was using my own domain mail in O365, but i also tried with two gmail, one Hotmail and my iCloud mail as recipient. None of them ever appear on any folder or junk.
I think that the issue is that Agent Backup does not have a FROM: field and it is using the same as the recipient. So we have a mail from: user@mail.com to: user@mail.com
And servers have been very strictly with catching phishing mail and they delete them directly.
"From" field should not be a problem, as we are authenticating on the smtp server. I can personally vote Gmail has no problems with my own laptop backup notifications, and we literally have thousands customers receiving notifications in their @gmail.com mailboxes.
Can you please open a ticket from said agent UI(Burger menu - Support - Technical Support) and share the case ID here?
I found there's a length limit for what is inside the "Subject" box in the Notifications tab. I had some emails that were delivered and some that did not. Shortening the Subject field by a few characters did the job for thsoe emails that did not arrive in my ailbox. I cannot tell you right away what the maximum limit is, you have to experiment. Start with a 20-character Subject line and expand.
Thanks for case ID. Logs are pure gold.
Meanwhile waiting a word from support, I have few things to consider for you:
- Logs are clean, that means we are receiving a positive confirmation from system talking with said SMTP server that email has been sent. It is worth checking mailgate logs.
- I have noticed you are using custom smtp relay\gateway server? Having @gmail.com address set, why not to use official smtp.gmail.com? Correct agent settings for gmail can be found here.
Egor,
I have using my ISP mail relay with no problem for years, you see gmail.com as a recipient cause i was testing, my default is my domain in O365. Although i tried with gmail.com settings but i get errors.
