Good afternoon.
On the server 2008R2 SP1 installed VEB 1.5.0.306.
When backup job system disk C: is run "Event 27 Source: Volsnap" is logged in the system log (in the panel VEB no errors):
"The shadow copies of volume \\?\Volume{8a495a49-45ca-11e6-9e82-1866da5ab7eb} were aborted during detection because a critical control file could not be opened."
But the command "VSSadmin List volumes" of this volume in the system is not detected.
C:\
\\?\Volume {b3eda294-01e4-4b62-b05b-47a4ab359447}\?
D:\

G:\

While in the registry it is referenced in sections
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\VSS\Diag\VolSnap]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\VSS\Diag\VolSnap]
Does this error affects the establishment VEB backups?
Thanks, sorry for my english.
Might be related some third party vss writer issues. It’s better to check with our support team regarding event log errors to be sure they are not affecting your backup. Kindly, open a support case via Control Panel and share the case ID in this thread. Thanks.
