Hi,
I am using the Agent to backup over WAN/VPN to a shared folder. The merge process is very slow as the server uplink is not so fast.
Would it be better if I had a B&R Repository there? Would it do a serverside merge or reduce the amount of data over WAN?
Thank you

Re: Faster Merge with Repository?
Hello and welcome to the community Manuel.
Merge is a part of backup job, so it's handled by agent and backup repository wont solve this problem. If you are running paid edition of backup agent you could use Backup Cache functionality to keep the backup files locally and sync them with your repository later (when stable connection with permanent access to the repository is available).

Re: Faster Merge with Repository?
my 2 cents here: it can actually get faster if you place VBR on the remote site and configure it to serve as a gateway for share-based repository. In this case all merge activity will be performed on the gateway server.
