Feature request - Backup to object storage
Hi,
It will be a great enhancement when VAW gets direct backup to object storage like S3 and Azure Blob. This way you dont need to build a Repo in the public cloud to do the first backup to.
Kind regards,
Bastiaan

Best regards,

[MERGED] Feature Request Object Storage Support
Hi Guys,
I am not sure if this is listed anywhere else in the forum, I did try looking but couldn't find a request for this.
We have had a request from one of our customers who is currently using VBR on a server, it's only use was only to replicate the Veeam Agent backup to Azure Blob.
They asked if this was possible to add to the feature list.
Their reasoning to this which is a fair one is that VAW supports OneDrive repository, maybe it should also support Blob.
I have not tried the OneDrive repo myself so not sure how this works practically but I would think as Blobs are used by some for simple cloud storage this should be able to be done, even if in normal VBLK and VBI format and not in deduplicated format like VBR.
Do you mind adding to the feature request list for VAW?
Thanks,
Richard

Re: Feature request - Backup to object storage
Hello,
yes it is (forum search shows it as 6th hit )
I merged it to the existing thread. And I also can add, that we will drop OneDrive support in favor to object storage support in V6
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Feature request - Backup to object storage
Hi Hannes,
Please don't drop the OneDrive support in v6, I actually use and really like that feature at home.
I know it is probably not a something widely used in the business community but would be used alot in small businesses or personal usage.

Hello,
sorry, the decision to drop OneDrive support will stay. For SMB / personal use, there should also be cheap S3 offers from various cloud providers.
Best regards,
Hanes

Re: Feature request - Backup to object storage
Hello Richard,
v5 remains supported for a couple of years after next version comes out, you can continue using it with OneDrive target if that's a good option for you.
