Hi Veeam Team and Community,
I’d like to suggest a feature request for Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows that would greatly help those of us working with BitLocker-encrypted drives.
Currently, Veeam Agent cannot back up volumes that are protected with BitLocker unless they are manually unlocked beforehand. This creates a challenge for environments where automation is important and encryption is required.
My feature request is:
- Support for automatically unlocking BitLocker-encrypted volumes before the backup job starts
- Re-locking the volumes after the job finishes
- A secure way to store and use passwords (or integration with TPM) without exposing credentials in plaintext or tying them to the logged-in user
This would allow organizations to maintain full disk encryption while benefiting from scheduled, unattended backups.
I'm looking forward to hearing if others have run into the same limitation and whether the Veeam team might consider this for future releases.
Thanks!
Best regards,
Swayd
