Feature Request - Disable taskbar icon
The ability to disable the task bar icon would be great for endpoint devices that users use on a daily basis.

Re: Feature Request - Disable taskbar icon
What do you mean by "disable"? If you meant "hide", then how will the user manage, or see a status backup and restore with the icon hidden? Will they need to run the app from Start menu every time they need to access it? Thanks.

... or you refer just to read-only access to the GUI?

I guess I'm just picky and have OCD. I meant hide the icon. If need be you can run the app from the start menu when you need access.

Many programs have the option to hide the task bar icon, however, you can simply change the notification icon behavior for Veeam.EndPoint.Tray to "Hide icon and notifications" if you wish. That takes 5 seconds to change.

Dmitry, let's still add an option to hide the icon completely, just to prevent some grandma from accidentally messing up backup settings, or initiating a page file restore

Any progress on this? This option is still not available. We run the backup on some RDS Servers but users can start backups now. Not the way we want .

Michel,
Unfortunately, there is no such option yet but you can always set the backup to run under the dedicated user account. Another hit that might help: I was told that you can close the tray app completely and backup should run anyway (while the backup service is running).

I'm surprised this is not an option for that very reason.Gostev wrote:...just to prevent some grandma from accidentally messing up...
As a work around, I don't see why you can't use Autoruns (Awesome little program) or manually disable the tray icon from startup since EndPoint also installs a Windows service. Any previously scheduled backup(s) should still run in the background without the tray icon, correct? I just installed EndPoint so not enough time has passed for me to verify.
If you use, Autoruns, simply uncheck the box beside EndPoint so the tray icon will not be present on the next boot.

Hi Jeff,
True. Backup job is operated thru the windows service, so it’s safe to hide the tray app.Any previously scheduled backup(s) should still run in the background without the tray icon, correct?
