Feature Request: Exclude Pagefile
Hi,
it would be nice to have an option to exclude the pagefile from the backup. Incremental backup size should be much smaller without pagefile.

Re: Feature Request: Exclude Pagefile
Hi Kris,
Its contents is already excluded from backup for entire PC and volume level backup modes - and with file level backup, it won’t be backed up regardless (unless you specifically select it anyway).
Thanks!

Page files etc
Using 'Entire Computer' backup mode, the backup browser shows hiberfile.sys and pagefile.sys
Are these not excluded?

Re: Page files etc
Hello jon.f,
Both should be excluded, but thank you - I will ask QA to double check, just to make sure.

Re: Feature Request: Exclude Pagefile
Quick update: you will still see both hiberfile.sys and pagefile.sys present via backup browser during file level restores. We do not exclude the file records from MFT, but rather just skip these files' blocks from processing (so if you restore those files, you will see that most of their contents is zeroed out, thus not taking any space in the backup file).

Re: Feature Request: Exclude Pagefile
Folders and file type extensions would be a good feature for exclusions.
The pagefile, the hibernation file, and a few others can be safely excluded. If you look at the xml file from backup assist or look at a file in the acronis b&r program files directory (search the file contents for hiberfil), they both have a similar list of files in their exclusions.
A configurable list of what folders and extensions to exclude and be able to export a backup job template would be a nice feature.

Re: Feature Request: Exclude Pagefile
you should probably add the hibernation file to that list. I can't think of any scenario where an endpoint would be backed up while it is hibernated unless there was a bootable offline backup iso.

Re: Feature Request: Exclude Pagefile
Justin,
Veeam Endpoint Backup automatically excludes the following objects already: temporary files folder, Recycle Bin, Microsoft Windows pagefile, hibernate file and VSS snapshot files from the System Volume Information folder. (Step 3. Select Volumes to Back Up)you should probably add the hibernation file to that list
