Feature Request - MSI/Configuration options for auto install
For GPO/PDQ installs, have the ability to automatically create the recovery ISO, and configure the jobs to save to a default location, without touching every computer.
Additionally, powershell hooks, to initiate/check on job status

Re: Feature Request - MSI/Configuration options for auto ins
Hi Robert,
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. As regards the automatic job creation and configuration, then I fully agree with you on this, but I'm not sure about recovery ISO. Since you're talking about GPO, then most likely the image/configuration of the endpoints is the same and only one recovery media should be enough, right?
Thanks!

Agree, in case you have typical hardware configuration and OS within the same location – one recovery appliance is enough. Moreover, if you hardware varies you may manually add all the necessary drivers to one recovery disk (or even load them during recovery process).

Re: Feature Request - MSI/Configuration options for auto ins
True, I was thinking more of terms of automation in installing it, not having to touch anything on the server and knowing that the recovery iso exists.
For my testbed installs of Endpoint, I picked four servers, of those two are roughly the same hardware configuration, and they all differ slightly in OS.
So to minimize any chance of not having the correct drivers or target OS, I'd imagine that most of the time it's a crisis where you need the image, and
to not have to track down any drivers.
Additional thought, how about scheduled recreation of the recovery ISO as well, in case the hardware/OS configuration drifts?

That could be also a possibility, but what do you mean by hardware change? Completely new one? In this case, both full backup and recovery ISO should be, indeed, re-created. As far as I know all latest OS do have compatibility drivers, in case their image can successfully be migrated to another hardware.

Hi!
Sorry about bumbing an old thread.
We are considering start using end point backup in large scale. Is there any news about .msi package and/or distributing settings via gpo?
Is there any commandline switches for silent installation for endpointbackup1.x.x.xxx.exe to be used for example with mdt task sequence?

Hello,
No news., sorry. You still can distribute the package via GPO but each endpoint should be configured manually. Is there any news about .msi package and/or distributing settings via gpo?

Ok, /silent seems to be the switch I was looking for.
Can you give me any insights, where endpoint backup stores it's settings? If they are stored in registry I think I can distribute them via group policy preferences.

Settings are stored in the database, so I doubt you can distribute it centrally.

Hello Simon and welcome to the community,
Installation in Unattended Mode is supported and can be used in the conjunction with GPO. Backup job, however, should be configured manually. Thanks.

Re: Feature Request - MSI/Configuration options for auto ins
Hi, I think for me, it would be endpoint free.
Coz I wanna deploy to mass users to backup files in the folder c:\users (certain files like .pdf .xls* . doc* .ppt*) to a network shared folder (at 1pm).
So it would be great if we can run a remote installer then add parameters to have parameters to set up the backup as well.

Hello zadrian,
Check the approach suggested above in this thread – you can force the VEB setup thru the GPO/scripting or any other software distribution tools, however you need to configure every endpoint’s job manually afterwards. Thanks.

Dear Veeam Marketing,
If you want your product to be even more loved by admins and entrenched in businesses, make this product remotely configurable!

Chris,
Veeam Agent for Windows 2.0 (the new name for Veeam Endpoint Backup) will come in 3 editions. Free version (with additional capabilities), workstation and server edition (both paid versions). The paid editions will have the possibility to be remotely managed (and configurable) through Veeam Availability Console or through API's (so you can configure them with GPO's / SCCM / Scripts / ...)
Brgds,
Mike

To fully automate this (remote installation and configuration), a paid edition of VAW will be required.zadrian wrote:Coz I wanna deploy to mass users to backup files in the folder c:\users (certain files like .pdf .xls* . doc* .ppt*) to a network shared folder (at 1pm).
