Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
Hello,
I would like to have the same "Reversed Incremental Backup" feature as in Veeam Backup & Replication.
This is very usefull to backup to tape only the last backup on one file.
Thanks,
thipau

Hi thipau,
Thank you. I am interested what Endpoints are you going to push to tape?

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
Hello,
I would only copy the last backup (full if reversed incremental) to tape. I always keep tapes outside of office.
I keep the restore points to disk at the office.
This is how I work with Veeam Backup & Restore.

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
Since B&R v8 already support synthesized fulls to tape from any type of backup chain. I wonder if we simply extend that functionality to endpoint backups instead, Dima?

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
Yup. The existing tape functionality is going to cover the Endpoint backups, so you will be able to put the Endpoint’s full backup to tape on the specified day.

Reverse Incremental Backup as synthetic one full last backup - I found useful. I will vote for it, too

Hi Christian, this is not going to be available in the 1st version, however we will consider adding this feature in the next updates.

Hi Vialiy,
Thanks for your response; just another vote that Reverse Incremental would be a great feature to add to the product.
Kind Regards.

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
Thanks for the feedback. Do you need this functionality because you offload these backups somewhere else?

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
As the functunality is today.. between endpoint and VBR.. what would be the best way to make sure you get atleast one valid full-backup copied to tape each week?

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
If you're using both Veeam B&R and Veeam Endpoint Backup, then you can schedule a backup copy job (use Endpoint backups as a source) and create a single VBK file which will be synthesized from the stored backup chain. After that you should be able to send this backup to tape.

I also agree that this feature would be a nice improvement for the backup op endpoints to tape.

Hi Avi, cannot say any dates, as we do not comment on the ETAs for the feature requests.

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
Yup, that's fully supported last version of Veeam B&R. If I am not mistaken it was supported since the day one of the integration with agent backups

Re: Feature Request - Reversed Incremental Backup
Great
I didn't want to try it out and also never had a case where I needed those for Agent backups.
