Feature request - shutdown/lock/sleep when completed
Would like the possibility of shutting down my laptop, hibernating or sleep or even lock the session, once the backup is complete. (manual backups only)

Re: Feature request - shutdown/lock/sleep when completed
What about just giving an ability to launch a post backup job script that would address a lot more scenarios (including this one)? Would that be helpful?

Can you add a shutdown timer and shutdown delay / abort option (when a user is logon) with the shutdown function?

Re: Feature request - shutdown/lock/sleep when completed
I can elaborate. When I am done with my work at home (usually at 4am ) I will want to have an ability to start a backup with an option to "shutdown computer once the backup is completed", and go straight to bed without waiting for a backup to complete (before I can shut the computer down manually).

if its scripting I would like to see Before Job and After job so that you could if needed flat file a database with some commands before the drive is imaged.

An added feature - when job completes, do one of the following, shutdown, sleep, hibernate, execute powershell script. (advanced users). Sounds like the way to go Vitaly

I'd like to see this functionality, either as a "shutdown after backup" option in the endpoint tray icon. Or if at all possible an extra item in the windows 8.1 power options dropdown on the metro interface that reads "backup then shutdown" (similar to when you have the option to "install updates and restart" when windows updates are available).

I second that. A "shutdown after backup completion" checkbox option, at least, would be welcome. Even better a dropdown list of actions to take after backup completes: shutdown, hybernate, lock, run program.

I believe I've already said this somewhere else, but "at logoff" backup schedule should trigger when the user initiates computer shut down if possible, because first part of shutdown is logoff. I don't expect users to actually logoff that often, most of us just lock or shutdown computers instead.

Feature Request: shutdown after backup
This would be nice to have the option to shutdown the client after backup is finished

Re: Feature request - shutdown/lock/sleep when completed
I also put my machines to sleep at night, and was used to WS2012R2E doing scheduled wake-ups for nightly backups during my backup window for 7+ years now.
Because of the throttling backup of resources when you're busy using the system, Endpoint backups (when I wake up in the morning then wake my PC) seem to work fine too, but older laptop without SSDs might notice the activity more.
If you want to schedule a wake-up task at the time the PC is due for a back up anyway, perhaps at the 12:30am a default install gives you, this method (that I created yesterday) works nicely, with the system going right back to sleep soon after it's done with the backup:

Paul,
We will add the ability to wake up from sleep in GA but for home computers and laptops, though the tablet devices with the connected standby power mode still have this issue.
BTW Good video, thank you! All R&D team is really impressed with all your reviews.

I thought I tested an "at logoff" backup schedule with a shutdown and it didn't seem to back anything up, which was why I added my voice to this thread. I may be mistaken though (or I may have initiated a logoff backup in less than the two hours since the previous backup) - I'll retry this later.
Cheers

Re: Feature request - shutdown/lock/sleep when completed
Kevin,
Just to clarify when performing a shutdown the computer is locked and the backup event is triggered, but then backup is interrupted due the shutdown, so you got a fail in the CP. We are going to fix the issue so the backup is not triggered on shutdown when ‘on lock’ event is enabled.
However, additional ‘shutdown after backup’ option currently is in discussions.

OK Great!
Thanks for the update, as long as I can walk away from my machine and it backs up before powering off, I'm very happy, regardless of how it's implemented.
Cheers

[Feature Request] Scripting
I'd like to see the option to have batch scripts executed before/during/after the job.
IE. a mobile user has brought their computer home for the weekend and left it turned on after working on it on their desk for a few hours. The computer connects to the office VPN, starts the backup job, and disconnects once complete.

Feature request: shutdown on success
An option "shutdown Windows on successful backup" could be very useful.
This could have two major advantegs. The first is of course power saving. The second is a feedback to the user: if he/she finds the PC turned off knows that the backup was successful.
ciao,
luigi

Re: backup at shutdown...
We do not have "backup at shutdown" option. And since "Backup at logoff" has proven not to work well when triggered by shutdown, we have already disabled that in the current builds. Thanks!
