Hello and welcome to the community danny.borghi,
May I ask if the configuration was changed at some point or it remains the same? Can you please clarify if it asks you for the backup password or for user account? Thanks!

Re: File level recovery ask for credential with VAW 3.0 Free
Hello Dima,
i have a network of 60 PC with veeam 2.2 installed and use veeam agent since its birth and everything always worked well
When this PC(anget2.2) try to restore from "file level recovery" veeam GUI start recovery from display "Restore Point"
from which to choose the day to restore, meanwhile the only 3 PC that i have upgrade to veeam agent 3.0
veeam GUI start "file level recovery" from display "Backup Location" and this makes no sense
because the "backup location" of restore is the same that veeam has used for scheduled backup of PC
And next display "Remore storage" and next "shared folder" Where is necessary to rewrire shared folder and user/password for connection to shared location.
Any help is appreciated

Hello Dima,
sorry for the question, but if the problem as Hannesk say is reproduced and you are working on it,
and you say that the issue is still being investigated why i have open a support case?
Anyway how should I do to open a case?
I have open a case with VEEAM B&R with licence but never open a case for a forum.

Danny, you can open a case via support.veeam.com, just like you did for VBR. If you open up a case, it will get marked and if a hotfix is needed/created, you will get it once available which is faster compared to the forums.

Hi Danny,
Thank you for the case ID. Looks like now we are all synced up. Can you please check is its possible to run the restore without password prompt:
1. Open Veeam Agent for Windows Control Panel
2. Click the menu icon and point cursor to your backup job
3. Select file level restore from the drop down menu
Let us know how it goes!

Re: File level recovery ask for credential with VAW 3.0 Free
Hi Dima,
Yes, I confirm that from the console of veeam using menu "Backup Job" and "Restore file" everthing goes well.
The problem seems to be isolated on the veeam icon on status bar
where if i click on the right mouse button and next "Restore"-"Individual file" the veeam GUI start with "Backup Location"...
Please FIX this bug because every my user use this method to restore individual file.
Many thanks in advance.

May I ask why the approach described above does not work for your users? I do understand the learning curve issue, but it seems that convenient way to start a restore is already there. Thanks!

[merged] Feature request: Restore wizard should already pre-fill network share name, username and password
currently when I invoke the restore dialog wizard, i must type/paste entire nas share path and credentials.
but the agent already knows the path and credentials, why does it not prefill the data?

[merged] Feature Request: Restores... "defaults by default"
Hi Everyone!
I appreciate the fantastic product that is Veeam Agent for Windows (free no less).
There is a minor thing that I really wish you would "fix" .... its minor but it annoys the heck out of me.
When I want to quickly restore one small file (restore from the existing backup chain scheduled task)....... *each*time* each restore I have to specify the source of the backup files to restore from.
Please. For the love of all that is good and beautiful on this green Earth -- please make the first screen on the restore process the question to restore "from default or other?"
Select "default" ==> The existing pre-configured backup data chain
Select "other" ==> the window where I have to choose type of destination (followed by syntax to said destination)
Here's my point: isn't it reasonable to assume a "non-BMR" restore might most likely use the existing backup chain in that is already in configuration??
It's a pain in the neck to always have to specify the SMB path for a minor excel file restoration.
Sorry for griping, when I'm already annoyed that I need to restore a file then I have to pre-configure the settings to be able to perform my restore
(extra work for a basic restore one file scenario)
That said. leaving the "other" option on the table allows me to restore files from outside the existing backup chain. This is important too! but I wish you didn't elect this as the default scenario
thanks again everyone

Re: Feature Request: Restores... "defaults by default"
Hello HEHSS1,
Have you tried to click the menu in the control panel > select the job and click restore? This will launch the restore process for the selected job without the need to browse for the location via restore wizard. Additionally, you can click one of the restore points on the bar chart (this will open the backup session) and then select file or volume level restore. Will that work for you? Cheers!

Re: Feature Request: Restores... "defaults by default"
:-\ no I did not try that hehe
(your approach works... I will discontinue using the standalone "File Level Restore" application)
An alternative I found, I make a short cut to the ".VBM" file on my desktop: doubleclick the vbm file directly and tada FLR starts right off with said backup chain

HEHSS1,
Thanks for the heads up. We've already discussed with RnD folks that some users may still rely on old approach (i.e. restore via wizard), so we've noted an improvement request for next versions. Cheers!
