File restore
Hello, I have the files obtained with the Backup Extraction Utility. In my file I have disk-sized files marked with the volume SID, how to open or mount them in order to extract a few files?

Re: File restore
Hi Piotr,
To clarify, are you trying to restore guest OS files of a physical machine?
Thanks

Re: File restore
Hi,
no, it needs to take out two files that are damaged in the current backup.
veem-backup.extractor> * .vbk file and how to get to files in disk image,
Extract file, disk file = 5654-343-3444-2324-e43554564646
Thanks

Piotr,
I would ask it one more time. "Files that are damaged in the current backup" - these are guest OS files of a physical machine, correct? If not, could you please specify what files are you asking about?
Thanks in advance.

Re: File restore
Wishr,
no, these are not guest system files, it needs application files.
I have standalone backups that Veeam doesn't normally see in * .vbk repository, unpacked them with an extractor, got hdd image files. How to get to the image and what format is it in? one files 600 GB
Thanks

Re: File restore
The easiest way to restore files (or application items) is to import the backup into VBR and then follow the common data recovery procedure.
I hope it helps. Thanks.

Thanks
So I need to have the Veeam Backup & Replication package installed, Veeam Endpoint Backup alone is not enough?

Re: File restore
Piotr-ABS,
1. Backup Extraction Utility does not support agent backups. You need to run file level recovery for that.
2. To restore / view content of the backup you can start file level recovery via Veeam Agent for Windows FLR utility or via Veeam B&R console (can use community edition for that). Later might help if metadata file is missing (can recreate one during import).

Dima P.
Thanks,
FLR requires / vbm,
but i have .vbs files, no .vbm file
And here I have a problem. I have a full .vbs file that the agent can't see, and I can get to it?

Re: File restore
A vbs file is not a veeam file. Vbs are visual basic scripts.
I have never heard of this file extension in veeam.
If you talk about vbk files, you can import them without the vbm file to a vbr server.

Re: File restore
You can install Veeam backup & Replication Community edition. It can import vbk files without the vbm file, if you have lost the vbm file.FLR requires / vbm,
but i have .vbk files, no .vbm file
After the import, you will be able todo a FLR or even a application item level restore.
