Formatting backup medium

Post by Jaap »

After installing the software, I choose my external 3 TB HD USB disk for backup medium.
But when I do this, than the program answer that the disk will be formatted.
That is not what I want: I have some data on this disk en want te add the backups.
How can I solve theis problem? (Backup without formatting the goal)

Jaap,

You don't need to format the backup medium, you should be able to select it. Any change that you selected that drive for making the recovery media?
Cheers,
Mike

I have made a mistake: switch-on the External HD will result in the message that it must be formatted.

Jaap,

Formatting is required to create a bootable recovery media (frankly speaking we need to create a recovery partition on your drive thus we have to re allocate it). You can use any other type of media (i.e. USB stick as Recovery Media). When you select external device as a target for your backup job formatting is not required.
