Full backup file merge failed

Post by csnow123 »

1/25/2015 5:18:25 AM :: Full backup file merge failed Error: The specified network name is no longer available. Failed to flush file buffers. File: [\\backup\e$\Backup Job VPPACS\Backup Job VPPACS2014-12-20T040021.vbk].

Not sure what's going on. Is at the end of the restore point schedule, 35 days or so. Last entry in backup.

Subsequent backups fail
1/26/2015 4:00:05 AM :: Preparing for backup
1/26/2015 4:55:47 AM :: Patch failed
1/26/2015 4:55:48 AM :: Processing finished with errors at 1/26/2015 4:55:47 AM

HAve about 4 of them. Did not delete the full from 12/20. Seems like it's still creating incrementals. No full though.. Pretty sure PC hasn't been shut down or server Backup where E$ is NAS box. Also up. HAve another PC using same destination, it's working ok but not following recovery points either. Set at 7, have 8 incrementals, still have original full.

Maybe I'm not clear on how it works.

csnow123,
Please open a support case thru the built in support functionality as it is hard to say anything unless we look at the logs. Thank you.

I decided to start from scratch and instead of a full + 30 inc just do 1 full and 7 inc. That merge seems to work better and still lets me take the .vbk to tape.

Glad you nailed it!

Are you using the VBR file to tape job or some third party tape backup?
