Gmail To Block All Less Secure Apps On June 2020

Post by AlexLeadingEdge »

Hi guys,

Just got an email from Google to say that as of June 2020 Gmail will stop allowing apps to use their services unless they use OAuth.

Will Veeam look into setting up a way to continue to use Gmail with Veeam Agent for Windows?

Hi Alex,
the only integration between Veeam Agent for Windows and Gmail there is right now is for SMTP Notifications.
We are investigating possible change in authorization mechanics, stay tuned.
Thanks!

Is there anything in place yet to help with getting notifications once google shuts down allowing auth to less secure applications on May 30 2022?

Hi, in our case, since today (june, 8th 2022), there is no way to activate the "allow less secure apps" for our google account. And so, we don't receive veeam reports anymore. Is there an alternative or something planned by Veeam ? Thanks.

Solution in our case = google allows us to generate a unique password for each apps.
And so, we generated a password for Veeam

Hello folks,

Thank you for sharing a workaround with the community! We plan to support modern email notification via Gmail or MS Office 365 with the next Veeam Agent for Windows major version.
