How to configure backup accross multiple usb sticks?
Hi,
Looking to change my current free backup software (Cobian) to Veeam Agent for Windows free.
I run a relativly small file server, i alternate between 3 USB sticks for backup storage - Mon/Wed/Fri, Tue/Thur, Sat
I currently backup approx 17GB of data nightly, i have 32GB sticks.
How does Veeam Agent for Windows Free handle this scenario?
Mon/Wed/Fri stick - it will create a full backup on the Monday then incrementals on the Wed and Fri.
Tue/Thur stick - it will create a full abckup on the Tuesday and then incremental the Thursday
Sat stick - Full backup, then an incremental the following week(s)
How would i then get it to start all over again and when it runs the following Mondays job it deletes everything on the Mon/Wed/Fri stick and performs another full backup, as as i read the user guide i dont think it will, as if i set a periodic full backup on a Monday it will do that but leave the previous week aswell - which would run me out of disk space.
Apologies if i have not understood the documentation properly.
Thanks in advance

Hi FTL,
You need to register all you removable media as Rotated Drives and attach the media according to your order. VAW will keep a separate independent backup chain on every device and continue it whenver device is attached and backup job kicks in.How does Veeam Agent for Windows Free handle this scenario?

Re: How to configure backup accross multiple usb sticks?
Thankyou Dima P.
WHat retention period would i set to just have 1 weeks worth of backups accross all 3 sticks?
IE - every Monday night it starts a new full backup chain and removes the previous week?
Thanks

Since retention of every USB stick is independent you can set 1 week and it should be applied to all devices.

Re: How to configure backup accross multiple usb sticks?
Hi,
Im struggling to get this working properly
My backups keep failing becasue the drives keep filling up, i cant work out how to get it to stop doing incrementals or to manage the space.
I have to go in and manually delete the content and start again.
Current settings are thus:
Retention Period : 1 day
Do a periodic full backup on a Monday.
Ill take the example from the current stick thats plugged in - the Tuesday/Thursday stick
Currently it has 4 files on it:
Backup Job X - date modified 23/01/2018 - 43kb
Backup Job X2018-01-16T200029 - 21.7GB
Backup Job X2018-01-18T200121 - 3.5GB
Backup Job X2018-01-23T200046 - 38MB
Now there is 858MB left on that USB stick and ill predict that tonights will either just squeeze on or fail as it will use all the disk space.
Please how can i control the disk space with Veeam Endpoint Free edition?
Do i have to create full periodic backups on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday so each stick gets a fresh start each week with an incremental written on Wed/Thur/Fri to their respective sticks?
Thanks in advance
