How to migrate agent jobs to new server

Post by rsberzerker »

I need to reinstall the OS (actually upgrade it, but will be wiping the HD) on a machine running some veeam agent jobs (we have a license). Is there a way to preserve the existing jobs and be able to move them back once the OS is reinstalled or do I need to take a bunch of screenshots and re-create the jobs?

(Obviously, searching for backup jobs isn't helpful.)

Yes, make a backup of the veeam settings and after redoing and reinstalling the s.o and veeam again, restore the settings as described in the guide.

Thanks, but that's for Backup and Replication, not Agent.

Hi Robert

If you want to export and import job settings, you can do so with the following tool. It‘s available for licensed Agents:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=60

For continuing the backup chain. If you have a new OS or format the entire HD, the next backup will be a full backup if I remember correctly. It won‘t be an incremental backup. I don‘t think you will get any benefit from keeping the old settings.
Just install the newest version and create a new entire computer backup job.

Restore from the previous restore points won‘t be a problem. Just double click on the vbk or vbm file and restore explorer will open.

If you still want to try mapping the old backup files to a new job, you can do so with the map option in the backup job:

Thanks Fabian. That's what I am looking for. Mostly I want to save myself to trouble of recreating the job. It's not a simple backup the entire drive type job.
