interesting result from file-level and hybrid backup
I installed the VEB on my test machine which has C drive and D drive. D drive is where the backup stored.
First, I configured a file-level backup. C drive was selected and showed "file level backup" next to it. I also unchecked some folders under C. The resulted restore point size is about 64GB. The unchecked folders are not backed up which is expected, but the files on root of C drive are also not backed up.
In my second test, I configured a file-level backup again but this time, C drive was selected and showed "volume backup" next to it. I also unchecked some folders under C same as in my first test, they are about 30GB. However, the resulted restore point size is about 65GB. The unchecked folders are partially backed up, I cannot figure out which files and folders are backed or not and by how. The files on root of C drive are backed up.
I run two tests in standalone ad-hoc backup.
Anyone experienced the same?

Hi Daniel,
That actually sounds like a bug to me. Please create a support case for this and post the support ID here.
There might be something wrong with our selection...
I think it is best that our engineers investigate this, with your logs
Many thanks
Mike

Btw, I need to verify my email before submitting the case, but the email verification went to my junk box. Looks like the email was too "simple" that the security system treated it as spam.

Re: interesting result from file-level and hybrid backup
I got reply from support, missing backup of C root files sounds like bug in file selection, and the issue of partially backed up of unchecked folders is an known issue with MS Shadow Copy Optimization Writer ....
Hopefully there will be a patch address this.
