Invalid shared folder with Synology NAS

Post by xamoel »

Hi everyone!

I recently installed Veeam Agent for Windows on my Windows Server 2008R2 in order to backup the physical server to my Synology DS116, as Windows backup cannot backup to a network share as far as I know...
I have the network share also mapped to Z, and can access, create and delete folders and data on it just fine.
After installing Veeam Agent and restarting, I tried to configure my first backup. When selecting "shared folder" as destination, I click "browse" and nothing happens, I only get "loading devices" and an error "last error: the service hasn't been started".
No shared folders show up.
No matter what path I enter in the shared folder, be it Z:\backup, or IP\backup, nothing works. I only get "invalid shared folder".

Any idea what is going on?

Thank you!

Please try to add a dedicated backup account with admin permissions in your NAS and type in the path with the credentials added in the backup wizard. Let us know if that works.

I got it to work using \\Synology-name\backup...
Did not work using the mapped letter, or the IP address.
